I think the main advantage of family business is that it has a relatively simple hierarchy, and therefore its more capable of reacting quickly in the case of a crisis. This is obviously more efficient than having a bunch of shareholders debating for hours at a meeting. But the disadvantage of family business is also very obvious, and its that the interest of the family is sometimes unaligned with the interest of the business. Imagine if a family member needed some money, right, so he or she took the money from the business account, then the business would be short on funds. So I just think that you have to be really careful on how to manage the family business in order to make it succeed.
